Turkey — 14A, Interlude 1 – Gear

Basically, I'll probably soon have nothing left to write about, because the number of interesting observations is limited. I remember the exact same thing happened last time with my description of the USA — people demanded juicy facts, but where are you supposed to get them?

Therefore, it would be reasonable to save the descriptions of things and insert them into different posts. But that's not very convenient for those who want to read strictly about gear and clothes, and even less convenient for people who don't want to read about stuff at all.

As you know, before the trip I bought a bunch of cycling clothes and other things, so now I will share my impressions with links.

Turkey — 12, Lapseki

First, a map, just to make it clear what I was talking about yesterday when I mentioned cutting the route short. By the way, right next to Çanakkale is the famous Troy (supposedly). There isn't much to see there, apart from the wooden horse built for tourists.

Map of western Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece with roads and cities, where the red line shows the route with a ferry crossing the Dardanelles and further east to Bandırma, and the blue one is the land route from Çanakkale connecting with the red one. Blue is the planned route, red is the actual one

Turkey — 11, The Road to Lapseki

Now the story will go a bit faster, because the Forest of Sounds festival is completely over, except maybe for a corporate party  on Saturday. I won't go to the Riga cycling marathon. Almost 20 lats for tickets + I'll definitely spend money there, and two days down the drain. I'd rather ride my bike around Latgale, plus a virtual person is suggesting we meet up in Kraslava.

I left off last time at our by now familiar overnight stay in the bushes. By the way, we rode a whole 89 km on the second day, despite all the obstacles. True, we planned for 120, but oh well. By the way, at night muezzins were singing from as many as three mosques at once, and then dogs barked so loudly nearby that it felt like they wanted to eat us. True Dolby Surround Sound.
