I’ve just read an interview with Lars von Trier, the creator of the film Dogville.

Meanwhile, translator Dmitry Puchkov, a.k.a. Goblin has repeatedly said, more or less, that pseudo-directors like Tarkovsky have become a fucking nuisance with their elitist films for pretentious faggots. He cited "Solaris" as a typical example.
The paradox is that Goblin himself likes von Trier’s "Dogville". And Trier likes "Solaris".
The conclusion is this: elitist directors should make films for directors—pretentious faggots—who, in turn, will make films for the thinking masses and less sophisticated directors, who make cheap chewing gum for the proletariat and the rabble. I remembered another fact that fits perfectly into this picture: Goblin is making a film with the working title "Zombies in a Bloody Frenzy". That puts him squarely in the third category.
And "rabble" is Goblin’s terminology; I myself would never call anyone rabble except actual rabble, of whom there are far fewer in the world than pretentious faggots.
I place myself somewhere between the thinking masses and the proletariat, because I’m nowhere near being a rotten intellectual, let alone a glamorous yuppie.
