I’ve just eaten lemon rice and fish made in a brand-new modern contraption called the "Thermomix"—a blender with a built-in electric saucepan. I was dripping snot into my plate and watching "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?".
There, Svetlana, who seemed frivolous, cheerful, and laid-back, casually won 3 million. She answered the questions with a smile, squealed, didn’t use any lifelines until the very end, and wasn’t at all bothered about losing several million. It felt as if she were cunningly and wickedly mocking the viewers by pretending to be an airhead, while in reality she was an alien with monstrous intelligence and encyclopedic knowledge. Or perhaps she has a fourth-generation mobile network built directly into her brain, running at gigabit speed.
I, for example, have read all sorts of things about the Vatican, but I still couldn’t remember that its coat of arms depicts keys. Although, if you think about it, it makes sense—the keys are to Heaven and belong to St. Peter.
Oh, by the way. I finished watching LEXX—the final, fourth season. There are some good episodes, but overall it’s a failure. Awful, stupid parodies of American life, unnatural character behavior (it feels as though they all have dementia and are complete morons), and a bad script. Plus the classic American "bodily function" jokes. Of course I love South Park, but only as a parody of American humor, not as American humor.
Just a few excellent, crazy ideas, like Kai playing the piano in Transylvania or Vlad Dracula turning out to be a female alien, slightly improve the overall situation.
I’m glad the creators decided not to torture the asses viewers and make a fifth season.
