I installed Gallery 3, a photo storage management system, on my Riga server for testing. I’ve long been trying to decide where and how best to store photos. I had nearly settled on www.myfoto.lv when they imposed a paltry 1 GB limit.
So now I’m struggling with the choice again. Hosting them myself (using the same Gallery) is certainly nicer. Especially since my provider responded positively to the idea. But it’s impossible to compete with giants like Flickr—everything there is just so well done. And I don’t even mind paying that much. But what if their prices stay like this forever, and I have to shell out 30 bucks a year for the rest of my life?
So this is an unsolvable conflict: flexibility and power vs freedom. I’m still thinking.
