We live as long as we fly

Blondie

Here I am listening to Blondie's 2003 album and reminiscing.
At first I didn't like it, but I stubbornly gave it a few listens, and caught its vibe. I liked the ironic and playful voice in which Debbie (who's already hit 60) enunciates the words. I liked the catchy and yet not too played-out melodies, the crisp and bright recording.
But now I turned it on after a long time, and it's not the same at all - the instruments piss me off with their studio perfection and plastic feel, the drums with their pushiness (or is it these new speakers?).
The magic of some songs is still there, but as for the rest - alas.
