Black-and-white album cover: a young woman with dark hair, wearing a skull-print T-shirt and a leather jacket, sits looking directly at the camera. White and yellow text at the top left reads: Le Volume Courbe, I killed my best friend.
The debut album by a one-woman band called Le Volume Courbe (translation: "crooked place" or "curved volume"?) titled I killed my best friend. It resembles CocoRosie, but in my opinion sounds even better. Acoustic guitar with distinct melodies, mysterious electronic undertones and heavy sounds—the legacy of trip-hop—all accompanied by lively, edgy and headstrong female vocals. It sounds unpolished and somewhat strange, living up to the band's name.
