Yesterday I made solyanka, roughly following this recipe. Despite the three kinds of meat and everything, the solyanka turned out rather average; I've had better. I also baked some meat with potatoes, and it turned out all right, though the butter and fat got a little burnt. I'll know better in the future.
While I was doing all this, I listened not only to the album I wrote about yesterday, but also to Autistic Daughters — Uneasy Flowers (2008).
It's probably psych-folk, which will now be coming out of the woodwork for a long time. But this is the rather slow and dreary kind. There are some interesting noises here and there, and the general approach to the instruments is interesting, but life doesn't exactly put you in the mood to listen to music like this, because it's no fun. From an experimental point of view, it's probably all right, but the guitar and vocals are rather tedious—I personally got terribly sick of acoustic guitar ages ago. Still, it seems that if you really get into this music, you might come to like it, because it has an affinity with post-rock. Plus, it's singer-songwriter music, and you clearly need to listen to the lyrics to understand what it's all about. The songs aren't long, though, and the album itself is only 30 minutes.
