As you remember, I'm still heading to Turkey on April 30th, despite my bad shoulder.
On the left is our favorite prof from Daugavpils RTU named Igor. He's explaining where we can go to my classmate, who's a doctoral student at RTU, so he's also kind of a prof. And his name is also Igor.
As part of the prep, the team and some curious folks and I went for a 53 km ride yesterday, and at the same time we discussed pressing issues in a clearing.
We rode to a place I've already been to, Daugavas Loki, just from the other side. Riding in a group is easier, by the way, or maybe the cycling gear made a difference, plus the enthusiasm of the first bike ride in many months (I hadn't gotten on a bike at all since New Year's, and before that I only rode to work).
In total there were about 9 people, as we can see.
Seryoga is truly crazy – the brakes on his bike barely work.
First stop, before the start of Daugavas Loki
This is us having already made it to the tower
Seryoga has a hell of a Canon rig, because he's a journalist
Some of the pics below were taken by Seryoga.
I still can't figure out if a decent camera is enough to take passable shots, or if you also need skill
This is us having come down from the tower and gone right
Rode up to some campsite
I attached the panniers just to practice
Just in case anyone doesn't know, it was 15 degrees outside at most, and the water was straight-up freezing
This has nothing to do with anything, it's just how they kind of decorated our city. These are spaceships, obviously.
