Training the Brain — 7

The answer to the previous puzzle is 35.

I'll tell you how I  counted.

Drawing of a regular pentagon with an inscribed five-pointed star formed by its diagonals, and the caption 'Fig. 4' at the bottom. Inside the sectors of the figure, faint handwritten numbers made with a red pencil are visible.

First we count the triangles that don't have any others inside them. There are 10 of those.

Black outline of a regular pentagon with an inscribed pentagram, with ten numbered red circles from 1 to 10 located on its corners and line intersections.

Then the ones that have two inside.  We count them taking symmetry into account, and look at where they can end (at the vertices of the pentagram). There are 10 of those. (2*5)

Geometric diagram: a black pentagon with an inscribed star. The upper sides of the pentagon and the inner triangle are highlighted with red and blue lines, the drawing also features red circles with the numbers 1 and 2, a red arrow, and the caption 'Fig. 4.'.

Then we count the ones that have three triangles inside. There are ten of those. They can end at the vertices of the pentagram, or in the inner pentagram.

Drawing of a regular pentagon with an inscribed five-pointed star and the caption 'Fig. 4.'. In the diagram, the upper sides and diagonal are highlighted with red lines, marked with the number 1 in a red circle, while other internal segments are highlighted with blue lines, marked with the number 2 in a red circle.

There are none that have four triangles inside.

Then we count the ones that have five triangles inside. They can end at the vertices of the pentagram. There are five of them.

Total is 35. I made a careless mistake and got 34.

Since today is a day off, here are two puzzles at once, but they're for kids!

Photograph of printed text with two logical puzzles in Russian: number 7 'You have to figure it out' about dividing apples in a basket among girls, and number 8 'Without thinking twice' about counting cats in the corners of a room.
