So, I left off at the point where nothing good awaited us ahead.
Crimea — 9, Grand Canyon of Crimea, part 1
Even though we were a bit tired after the cave city, and arrived at the Grand Canyon around 2 PM, we decided to wander around it. We didn't take the tourist route, but went straight along the very bottom of the canyon, which, of course, isn't any easier, but is a hundred times more interesting.
Judging by my GPS, we walked 14.6 kilometers, gaining and losing about 600 meters of elevation.
Crimea — 8, Cave City of Eski-Kermen, Part 2
First off – about the ultra-deep siege well. Obviously, it once held water, but now it's leaky and empty. The scale is still impressive though.
The depth beckons and beckons
Crimea — 7, Cave City Eski-Kermen, Part 1
In this part, we finally made it to the much-coveted cave city. It is a fortified settlement in the mountains where people lived 500 or more years ago. They lived in ordinary houses simply built on the rocks. But they kept their supplies in caves carved out of the relatively soft rock. Since visiting such cities was declared to be practically the main goal of the trip, we had been looking forward to it with anticipation, and even a pleasant trembling in our knees.
But since the pig is an undisputed hit, first here's a bit more of the photogenic piggy.
