We live as long as we fly
I think I've seen this before, but I forgot, and now I've been reminded.
On zl.lv there are simply excellent maps of parts of Latvia. Here, for example, is my hometown and its surroundings:
I paid lotsa-lotsa money, and they finally properly unlocked my iPhone from the carrier. I can’t figure out how they did it—the internet seems to say there’s no way to unlock my versions of the firmware (baseband and bootloader) through software. They didn’t solder anything either. So either I’m an idiot and misunderstood what I read on the websites, or the technician really is a pro and knows some secrets. His reputation is solid, after all. I’m talking about the shop near “Mego,” across from “Tallers.”
In any case, I now have firmware 3.0 installed (in Russian, for some reason), with copy-paste and a landscape keyboard in Notes. And I can install proper GPS software (Navigon) on it, which makes me incredibly happy. Just a little more, and the device will satisfy me in almost every respect.
Everyone seems to think that meat and dairy products in Belarus are natural and tasty.
Meanwhile, it seems to me, as usual, that this is largely just a manifestation of the quirks of human thinking. Subconsciously, many people think something along the lines of “things used to be better” (I mean the parallel with the USSR) and “if a country is agrarian, everything there is natural.” Meanwhile, when we were in Belarus for Ligo, I illegally brought a couple of cans of their canned meat under the NYAM-NAM brand back here. Tried it recently — it tasted way too salty/MSG-heavy, and afterwards I even felt kind of unwell. The ingredients on the label list monosodium glutamate.
