Today they loaded us up for the next six months, the whole semester ahead. For some reason, every year things start going to shit earlier and earlier.
As part of one of our courses, we’re temporarily studying the Ada language. Sounds scary? In fact, it’s a relative of Pascal, invented by the US military for its own needs. Horribly cumbersome, but that’s by today’s standards.
The harsh reality of life
Fruit flies have occupied our dorm room. They are multiplying, taking advantage of the favorable weather. Apparently, the source of the contagion is the trash can in the kitchen, which is located right across from our door.
The flies are ferocious and indestructible — if they find any foodstuff within reach, they furiously pounce and devour it, leaving their offspring on it. Bread, cookies (if they aren't completely dry), apples, and everything else is subjected to a most brutal attack. By leaving food out in plain sight, we risk coming back to find swarms of brave warriors of the food chain. It's just that flies aren't part of our diet, and I find nothing pleasant about them.
The final touch: I covered the bread with a mug on top to seal it off and keep the evil, swarming contagion out. Yet they sense it with a seventh sense, and circle in a black cloud right over the mug. Vadim comments: "Better not leave it! You risk them flipping it over during the night."
Curtain.
UPD: Apparently, the evil buzzers spontaneously generated from some potatoes, carelessly left in the cupboard by a departed tenant. Due to the hot weather, the little potatoes started to rot, which led to the invasion of the evil critters.
Lars von Trier
I’ve just read an interview with Lars von Trier, the creator of the film Dogville.
Quote
If I want to experience strong emotions, I watch half an hour of Tarkovsky’s «Solaris» — it warms my heart.
Religious Harry Potter
I don't know why this leaves such a creepy, monstrous impression on me. Forget grotesque horror flicks! It's just like a good thriller.
THE EASTER MIRACLE OR THE REPENTANCE OF HARRY POTTER
Probably because here you can vividly and clearly see what happens when religious zealots remake the world their own way. Nothing is sacred to them. That turned out to be a cool pun :-)
